How Are Tissues Made?

Tissue paper is made from virgin wood pulp. The trees are logged, cut into chips, and then ground into flakes. The flakes are mixed into a pulp by combining them with water. Chemical additives are added to soften, strengthen, and colour the paper while lotions and added fragrance can give the tissue its aromatic smell.

What Are They Used For?

Primarily used to clean an individual's face from dirt, blow one's nose, remove makeup or lightly wipe down surfaces. Facial tissues have the added benefit of being disposable which makes them superb alternatives to handkerchiefs and cloths.

Do Tissues Dissolve in Water?

The short answer is yes, however tissues do not dissolve in water as rapidly as traditional toilet paper and is highly advised not to be flushed down anything like a toilet. When washed, it usually takes over 6 weeks to disintegrate yet during this time, it can cause your drainage system to clog.
